The popular resale platform has revised its size classifications for women's and children's clothes but did not contact all shoppers about the modification. Social Media Backlash Countless users and merchants are posting online stating that platform listings now display a different size category compared to what was initially listed as a result of the reclassification. The platform stated the new system was more in line with other platforms. It has advised users to review their products and manually change the size where appropriate, causing user dissatisfaction. Sizing System Modifications Previously, the measurements included a single numeric size and a letter, such as S/8 or M/10. The new system has a letter and a range like S/UK 8-10. In some cases, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18. User Stories Frankie Bridger, who creates plus-size fashion videos, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder". "Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes. A different member, based in Glasgow, explained products she uploaded on Vinted with size 14 labels were showing in the marketplace as larger sizing 20-22. "If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she said. Necessary Adjustments Charlotte Lunn, based in Derby, said she had been left angered because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizes on "every single listing". "Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and Vinted sales have been crucial following partial earnings loss," she said. Service Background The service features exceeding 100 million shoppers, comprising 18 million UK members. It has emerged as a preferred choice to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop. This represents another occasion when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: last year, the service retracted a modification concerning shipment methods due to shopper criticism.
