Multiple passengers and crew were hurt when a Delta aircraft from LA to Sydney, Australia encountered turbulence on Friday morning.

The flight, numbered 41 "experienced a brief period of turbulence" as it landed at the Sydney airport, an airline spokesperson told. Several cabin crew members required medical attention.

Local paramedics reported they evaluated five individuals, and took a trio to a medical facility with non-life-threatening injuries that comprised back pain and head pain. The patients' ages spanned from their 30s up to the 70s.

The event represents the latest incident of commercial jets experiencing atmospheric disturbance, with researchers indicating that climate change is a significant contributor.

There were nearly 250 travelers and 15 crew members on the wide-body jet, the official added, stating that the plane landed "without further incident" at Sydney Airport at 06:48 local time on Friday morning.
